Dime of the Month: Lindsay Assenmacher

Lindsay (7)Lindsay is Cents’ Onboarding Operations Lead. She joined in 2024 and, in true Lindsay fashion, dove in headfirst at our Miami offsite, where she naturally fit right in. Since then, she’s brought steadiness, style, and dedication to the onboarding team. She moves quickly to get operators set up with our tools and knows how to meet every owner, attendant, and employee exactly where they’re at. Customers of every kind connect with her, and her undeniable charm wins them over.

Lindsay commits wholeheartedly to whatever she’s doing, whether that’s teaching yoga in Brooklyn, putting together the perfect effortlessly cool look, or staying with a customer after hours until they feel confident using our products. She’s as reliable as she is humble, as a leader, a coworker, and a friend. She loves stepping into a space to learn from others, connect with people, and show up for them out of the goodness of her heart.

If you’re lucky enough to have Lindsay onboard you to Cents, you might even get a guest appearance from her cat, Catrick Kane. We’re grateful to have someone who brings this much compassion and consistency to her work every day.

Lindsay (8)What gets you out of bed every morning?

Heated vinyasa yoga. Every Tues-Friday at 7:45am. Otherwise, black iced coffee and my kitten. Most recently, the perfect NYC Fall weather gets me excited to get out of bed though!

What makes Cents different from other places you’ve worked?

The people. I’ve never worked at a company before where everyone is so willing to help in any way they can. I also really value the work we do at Cents because it is technology that is truly helping small businesses. It is so rewarding hearing that we made a laundromat owner’s life easier and more efficient.

What has your career path looked like?

Several years ago, I got my first job at a tech startup that hosted social media campaigns. From there, I worked at Oracle for about 5 years. I mainly worked in their marketing tool suite. As I sort of mentioned before, I did not find value in selling customer data to CMO’s across the globe, so I took a brief corporate hiatus to teach yoga and work for a hot sauce company. I taught yoga classes before and after work at the hot shop company where I was managing operations and customer support. Fast forward to recent years, I was super excited to combine tech and my love for food at a new job working at Wonder. As is common with startups, that job only lasted a year and I set out to interview at Cents. We now have a handful of former Wonder employees at Cents as well!

Lindsay (6)What is your proudest career moment and why?

My proudest career moment at Cents sounds a bit vague, but it truly is the overall mutual trust I’ve established with my colleagues. I feel like I am in a place where I can be relied upon to make sure the Cents customer is being taken care of no matter what.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Trust the process, be okay with not having everything figured out. It took me about 8 years of troubleshooting to feel like most things were falling into place. Also, have a foolproof formula you can rely on that keeps you happy. My formula is yoga/meditation + eating healthy 75% of the time + finding a job that you’re proud of + above all, making time for community and friends.

What is your secret to making progress each day?

The aforementioned FORMULA :) If I start feeling down, I know to look at those pillars and address where I may be slacking and I adjust.

Lindsay (4)If you could switch your job with anyone else within Cents, whose job would you want?

Probably any of the software engineers. I would love to see the product I’m building actually come to life. I don’t have any coding or programming experience but it’s a skillset I really admire.

What advice do you have for prospective Cents candidates?

Simply to make sure you understand and also find value in the overall mission of uplifting individual laundromat owners as well as the entire laundry industry.

Motto or personal mantra/Words to live by?

Sounds cheesy but “I am the whole sky, everything else is just weather.” I forget where I read this once, but the meaning is if it’s storming, cloudy, it will pass. Same effect if it’s bright and sunny, enjoy those moments too but accept that they are not constant either.
