This month on our #DimeOfTheMonth series, we are excited to feature Kazi Hossain! Kazi has been a technical support expert for Laundroworks for almost 5 years. He’s been providing support to our Laundroworks customers since the beginning, and is a natural at connecting with others, which is why he’s such an indispensable part of the team. We caught up with Kazi and are giving you a peek into his life both in and out of the office!
Tell us one thing people don’t know about you..png?width=295&height=295&name=Kazi%20(3).png)
I was born in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. So when I moved to Canada I was 19, and I was looking forward to finding my full potential in me in every possible way. And the first thing I did was find my confidence through going to the gym and running while losing 100 pounds - which is insane now that I think about it.
What gets you out of bed every morning?
Lately, it's been coming into the office and getting to see the faces I work with along with hitting the gym before I come to work to sweat it out. And then I feel a lot more refreshed and ready for the office. Once I get the blood pumping I feel great and I'm ready to work and say hi to everyone without having to reach for the coffee first!
A typical weekend for me is….png?width=287&height=287&name=Kazi%20(4).png)
I'm a foodie, so I like to go out, have dinner with my close friends, or take my parents out somewhere nice they haven't tried before. And then I like to go out dancing! I just love live music in general, so it could be a metal band, or it could be a DJ, anything to get the blood flowing and get my cardio in with dancing.
What makes Cents different from other places you’ve worked?
I feel really proud to work with the amazing people behind all this tech and build our legacy. When I joined, I was the only support person and now we're a team, which really brings home the fact that you know I'm part of something that's only going to keep growing bigger and bigger. I'm excited for the journey that I'm on with Cents and Laundroworks.
What is your proudest career moment?
It definitely has been a part of Laundroworks because Laundroworks used to be just a handful of us. Seeing the Support Department go from just me to an entire team to delegate to and strategize with after the acquisition, and our growth involved in those changes has been one of my proudest career moments.
If you could trade roles with someone at Cents for a day, who would it be and why?
If I could switch roles with anyone it would be with someone like Eric or Jack! I talk to them every now and then. They deal with the sales and keeping customers happy and I’m curious to learn more of what they deal with on their end and how it all comes together.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would definitely tell myself to be a little bit more confident because it took me some time to find that outside of high school. After I started doing my sales role where I was able to actually see numbers and results, providing the validation I needed at the time to build confidence. Getting to put myself out there more, talk to more people and learn from other people in my professional career ended up also helping me in my personal life. Whereas for most people, I feel it's the other way around. So I would probably start there if I had to tell my younger self, get yourself out there a bit more!
Do you have any mottos, personal mantras, or words you live by?
I really love psychology and I did a bunch of electives around psychology back in college, and there are a couple mantras that stuck. One is “Don't let the things you want make you forget the things you have” and the other is “Be the best you can be.” I think everyone's potential is a little different and that is special. We should all give ourselves some grace because we all have different strengths and different weaknesses and we are constantly working on improving ourselves. I tell myself regularly that you don't have to be the best, but be the best you can be.
