How Partnering with Cents Improved Operations for First-Time Laundromat Owners

With Cents, Island Wash Grew Its Business & Service Offerings

Husband and Wife, Arshad and Renuka Bridglal recently entered into the laundry business when they had the opportunity to acquire Island Wash Laundromat in Forest Hills, New York. Island Wash offers a variety of services including wash-dry-fold and Pickup and Delivery, in partnership with Cents.

Arshad and his wife, Renuka weren't quite sure what they were getting themselves into when they joined the laundry business, but Cents has made the transition smooth for them. “Cents has all the tools you need to make it easy for you as a laundromat owner to thrive,” said Arshad.

The Problem

“When we first opened, times were uncertain and we weren’t sure how easy or challenging operating a laundromat would be,” Arshad said, “uncertainty is scary.” 

Arshad and Renuka were essentially looking for a platform that would allow them to quickly process payments for customers. “Every time a customer came in, it took a long time to enter any information. We were never able to forecast when customers would come in to pick up their wash-dry-fold orders, so it was hard to plan ahead” Arshad explained. 

What Island Wash needed was an all-in-one business management solution that could forecast transactions, make payments seamless, and help them scale their business. Before signing on with Cents, Arshad had aspirations of integrating Pickup and Delivery into their services, but adding their own drivers and vehicles to the process made it seem impossible.

“When we signed on with Cents, I could immediately tell that it would be great, I didn’t even know gig economy Pickup and Delivery would be possible.” said Arshad. 


The Solution

Island Wash started utilizing Cents in March of 2021 after they opened their first store; it was the perfect time and opportunity to implement a system to streamline their processes and expand their service offerings. “The customer service has been really great and it has been easy to onboard. They showed us everything from start to finish. Their team showed us how to set up the hardware, how to use the software. It’s been really great,” Arshad said.

“We have been Cents users for seven months and I would say the value for money which has made a very seamless operation for our employees and customers” said Arshad.

The Outcome

With the Cents platform, managing their store has been simplified for Arshad and Renuka. They have more time to focus on Pickup and Delivery and wash-dry-fold orders, which have increased revenue for the store month over month. Additionally, the option for customers to pay via the live link and receive text receipts without downloading an app has saved the husband and wife team time, improving overall business operations.
