Dime of the Month: Brian Greemann

For January's #DimeOfTheMonth, we are excited to feature our Account Executive, Brian Greeman! Brian is a humble, yet driven member of the Cents team, and has worked with hundreds of laundromat owners to modernize their business. He's dedicated to the success of those he works with, and believes deeply in the Cents mission. We chatted with him to learn a little more about his journey to Cents, how his work is rooted in family, and his tips for staying top of your game.

Q. What is your nickname at work and why?

BG is usually my nickname, just my initials. Everywhere I’ve worked there's been another Brian so I have to differentiate them, and no one can spell my last name, ever. So I try to make it short and sweet.

Q. What gets you out of bed every morning?

For the past year our first child has been waking us up, usually way earlier than what we expected. It's like my alarm clock. Aside from him, I've always had an internal drive to go out and do things and not sit around and wait for things to happen. I try to get up and seize the day as much as I can.

bg-cents-employee-spotlight-4Q. What makes Cents different from other places you’ve worked?

I think the biggest difference is that things just get done. Everyone knows their role and knows how they can move the needle forward. The team is all willing to chip in and help, and I'm still surprised at how quickly things happen and we’re able to roll out new features or fixes. Unlike other companies I’ve been at, projects aren’t delayed because there isn’t a bunch of red tape to move forward. Things are done in a very timely manner and it's incredible to see the product develop and people grow as well. Basically everyone has a ‘do it’ mentality.

Q. Why sales?

I'm going to be honest, getting a paycheck is great, but what I like about sales is selling a product that actually helps people. I'm not going to sell something that I don't believe in, or that I have to lie about or manipulate to make people think it's the best. I really like providing a solution to someone's problem, and I feel like that's what Cents provides today.

Q. Which 3 words would your colleagues use to describe you?

Knowledgeable. Organized. Tenacious.

Q. What is your proudest career moment?

I'm living my proudest moment. I've been in sales for so long, and I've never been let go or fired for performance or not doing what the job requires. That's something to stand on.

I think some of those words that describe me are reasons why I haven’t been let go. I follow up with people and really find out why they’re not moving forward. I always try to hit my numbers and want to be at the top, and I’ll grind and be as tough as possible to get to where I want to be.

Q.  A typical weekend for me is…

That's changed a lot over the last year. If you asked me that two years ago it would be a little bit different answer, but now it's hanging with my wife and our newborn - I guess he's not a newborn at this stage, so our year old -  doing something outside like hiking, and then coming back and having a nice meal. We usually grill or make something at home versus going out and just hang with the family.

Q. Do you have any mottos, personal mantras, or words you live by?

When people ask me how I'm doing I always respond ‘I'm living the dream’. Maybe it's not the dream today or tomorrow, but remind yourself that what we have today we should be definitely thankful for.

If we’re talking song lyrics to live by I would probably start singing the song Till I Collapse by Eminem. Just continue to go until you collapse. So something like that.
